Ten dead in Peru bus crash

At least ten people have been killed and 49 others injured when a bus plunged into a deep ravine in Peru. The bus went off the road and fell into ravine in southern Peru’s Moquegua region for unknown reasons, Efe reported citing local media.

Rescue operation has been carried out by the police and officials with the Attorney General’s Office at the crash scene. Among the people injured are a police officer and a health ministry worker.

Accidents of this kind are regular occurrences in Peru’s interior, frequently contributed to by the poor condition of vehicles and roads, driver error and the mountainous geography.
