Six Egyptian policemen killed in Sinai bombing

September 16, 2014 01:13 pm | Updated 01:13 pm IST - Cairo

Five Egyptian police conscripts and an officer were killed on Tuesday when a roadside bomb hit an army-police patrol in the restive Sinai Peninsula, the Interior Ministry said.

Two other conscripts were injured in the attack on the road between the provincial capital, al-Arish, and the town of Rafah on the border with the Gaza Strip, the Ministry said.

The remote peninsula has seen regular attacks on security forces despite an ongoing military campaign against jihadist operating in the area.
