One person was killed and five others wounded when a gunman opened fire at a motel and at least three other locations across the Phoenix suburb of Mesa on Wednesday.
Acting police chief John Meza confirmed the arrest but did not immediately provide details.
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey said in a statement that he had spoken to the Mayor of Mesa and offered the support and resources of the state, including the Department of Public Safety, in handling the shootings.
