Magnitude-5.6 quake rattles Peru capital Lima without damage

A light-to-moderate earthquake centred in the ocean south of Lima rattled Peru’s capital on Friday evening. No injuries or damage was reported.

The 5.6-magnitude quake was centred 78 km south-southeast of Lima and was 45 km deep, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck at 7.18 p.m. local time (5.48 a.m. IST, Saturday).
