The Jordanian air force on Wednesday destroyed a number of armoured vehicles it said crossed over the border from neighbouring Syria.

In a statement, the military said it issued “repeated warnings” to the vehicles before the planes opened fire.

The military did not say whether the vehicles belonged to rebel or government forces.

Jordan has been concerned about a spill over from the Syrian civil war into its territory.
