A 23-year-old Indian student has gone missing in New Zealand, prompting the police to seek help from public to trace him.

The police in Manurewa, South Auckland, said Ankur Sharma, who has been missing since June 9, arrived in New Zealand in February on a student visa.

He had recently obtained a work visa that was valid until March 2014. He was last known to be living in Manurewa.

Ankur was believed “now more likely to be somewhere in the Auckland City area,” the police said in a statement.
