The head of Venezuela’s presidential guard says President Hugo Chávez died of a massive heart attack after great suffering.
The general told The Associated Press late Wednesday that he was with Chávez at the moment of his death on Tuesday.
Gen. Jose Ornella said that in his final moments Chávez could not speak aloud, but mouthed: “I don’t want to die. Please don’t let me die.”
Gen. Ornella spent the last two years with Chávez as the President battled an unspecified cancer in the pelvic region. He spoke to the AP outside the military academy where Chávez’s body lay in state.
Gen. Ornella said Chávez’s cancer was very advanced when he died but offered no details.
The government has said Chávez suffered a severe new respiratory infection.

As an American, I am truly saddened that this great leader has past. 10 or so years ago
I too believed the lies I would read in the papers or see on tv. It was Chavez, through
his speeches and actions who helped to open my eyes to the real truth. Not just
Venezuela's but around the world. I hope that Maduro continues the policies that are
empowering the beautiful Venezuelan people and that the zionist Radonski is swept
form power completely. That would be the best gift to Latin America I can think of.
A great outspoken leader, will be remembered for his courage, boldness and actions to help the poor and his people.
Venezuela president Hugo Chavez lived with a purpose inspite of few weakness in administrative traits. He was one among the anti US capitalism policies challenging them achieving victory to some extent.
he has left a legacy for his countrymen to strive and accomplish the unfulfilled wishes of his countrymen.
