Four kids buried in landslide in southern Philippines

May 30, 2013 05:18 pm | Updated 05:18 pm IST - Manila

Philippine authorities were searching for the second day on Thursday for four children buried in a landslide after heavy rains fell in a southern province of the country.

Police said the rescue team found it difficult to remove the large volume of soil that fell on an abandoned house where the kids were playing in Zambuanga Sibugay province.

Authorities were told of the incident late on Tuesday, but rescue efforts have been hampered by the remote and mountainous location that can only be reached by foot.
