Chinese state media said a minibus used to transport students collided with a truck in eastern China, killing 11 kindergarten children.
The official Xinhua News Agency says the minibus driver was also killed in the accident on Wednesday in Shandong province. Citing police, Xinhua said the minibus was hired by a kindergarten as a school bus and was carrying more passengers than it was supposed to.
A series of accidents have focused public anger on school bus safety in rural areas, where there is a shortage of education funds and children are often forced to travel long distances because of school closures.
