A passenger train was hit by a landslide on Saturday morning in southern Taiwan, injuring at least nine passengers, three in critical condition, officials said.

The train carrying about 250 passengers en route to the southern city of Kaohsiung was hit by a sudden landslide when it was about to enter a tunnel in Pingtung county, according to Taiwan Railways Administration.

Deputy director-general Chieh-shen Lu said four carriages were pushed off the track, including three of them stuck in the tunnel.
