An explosion caused by an apparent gas leak brought down a three-story building in eastern China, killing at least 11 people, state media said on Wednesday.

The explosion occurred in an employee cafeteria of a gas sales company in Suzhou, a city west of Shanghai, Xinhua reported.

Nine survivors were being treated in hospitals, the report said. It said a preliminary investigation showed the blast was caused by a gas leak.
