British ministers will offer to supply police officers in rebel—held eastern Libya uniforms and body armour, and also help establish a public radio station.
Prime Minister David Cameron, Foreign Secretary William Hague and other ministers were holding talks on Thursday with Mustafa Abdul—Jalil, head of the rebels’ National Transitional Council.
Mr. Hague said ministers were discussing plans for the council to open a permanent office in London to help cement contacts with Britain, and would also consider requests to supply non—lethal equipment.
He said Muammar Qadhafi “continues to brutalize his own people,” and repeated calls for the despot to stand down.
Mr. Jalil was also meeting with Treasury chief George Osborne and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg.
