A leading Muslim group on Wednesday urged the British Government not to allow Hindutva activist Sadhvi Rithambara to enter the country citing her role in the demolition of Babri masjid.
She was reported to be planning to visit Britain in September.
The Council of Indian Muslims U.K. said the Liberhan Commission had named her among those involved in the demolition of the mosque and “subsequent violence that killed some 3,000 people across India’’.
In a letter to Home Secretary Theresa May, the Council chairman Munaf Zeena said her presence on British soil could affect community relations. He said it was on similar grounds that Muslim preacher Zakir Naik was recently refused entry into Britain.
