Two Croatian air force MiGs crash; pilots safe

The Croatian defence ministry says two MiG—21 fighter jets have crashed during an exercise, but that both pilots ejected safely.

The ministry says in the statement the two planes “had an accident in the air and both fell down” without specifying whether they collided.

It says the two were participating in an air force exercise near Plaski in central Croatia when they crashed at around 12-50 p.m. on Thursday.

The ministry initially said one pilot was missing, but advised later that both pilots landed safely and contacted their headquarters.
