Tsunami warning after powerful quake near the Philippines

Berlin A 7.9-magnitude earthquake has struck off the coast of the Philippines, prompting a tsunami warning, geological agencies reported Friday.

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake’s epicentre was located at a depth of 33 km, with the nearest island situated 146 km away.

A tsunami warning bulletin has been issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre.
