Three killed, four hurt in Peshawar blast

A suicide bomber blew himself at a police checkpoint in this northwestern Pakistani city today, killing three persons and injuring four others.

The bomber with explosives strapped to his body blew himself up when he was stopped by a policeman for frisking at the check-post in the busy commercial area which has several government and private offices, officials said.

NWFP Senior Minister Bashir Bilour, said thee persons were killed and four wounded in the blast.

The body parts of the bomber lay scattered at the site of the blast.

Several cars were damaged by the explosion. Army troops cordoned-off the area as ambulances rushed bodies and the injured to nearby hospitals.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which was the latest in the series of suicide bombings to hit Peshawar in recent months that has killed more than 100 people.

A suicide bomber had targeted the Peshawar Press Club yesterday, killing four persons.
