Thailand’s royal palace says King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s youngest daughter underwent surgery for a broken leg after falling while on her way to give a university lecture.

The Royal Household Bureau said in a statement Tuesday that the 53-year-old Princess Chulaborn broke her left thighbone and underwent surgery that was “satisfactory, without any complications.”

The 83-year-old king and Queen Sirikit visited their daughter at Chulalongkorn Hospital on Monday evening after the operation, the statement said.

Ms. Chulaborn, the youngest of three daughters and one son, is deeply involved in cancer and scientific research.

She was walking through Bangkok’s Kasetsart University, on her way to give a lecture, when she fell on Monday.
