An intelligence official says one of five men arrested hours before a planned shooting attack is to be released.

The official said on Thursday an Iraqi asylum seeker arrested in Denmark is being freed but remains a suspect.

Investigators say the men planned to shoot as many people as possible in a Copenhagen building housing the newsroom of a paper that published cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in 2005.

Four suspects were arrested on Wednesday in the suburbs of Copenhagen. A fifth suspect, a Swedish citizen of Tunisian origin, was arrested in Sweden.

The other three men arrested in Denmark face custody hearings.

The source did not say why the man was being let go. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.
