Stray lion injures man in Kenya, shot dead

This is the second incident this month involving a stray lion.

A Kenyan wildlife official says a lion has been shot dead after straying from a national park and attacking a man outside the capital of Nairobi.

Paul Udoto, a spokesman for the Kenya Wildlife Service, said on Wednesday that the animal was killed by wildlife officials after it injured a man in the Kajiado district, some 57 kilometres (35 miles) from Nairobi.

Second such incident

This is the second incident this month involving a stray lion. On March 18, a lion mauled a pedestrian in Nairobi before being captured.

Nairobi National Park, which covers 117 square kilometres (45 square miles) on the outskirts of Nairobi, is home to endangered black rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes and diverse birdlife.
