Sri Lanka Navy said on Thursday that it had repatriated an Indian salvage team comprising of thirteen fishermen and three fishing trawlers at the Indo-Sri Lanka Maritime Boundary on February 9.
In a statement, the Navy said that the Indian fishermen had arrived Sri Lanka to salvage an Indian trawler that ran aground at Northern beach off Delft Island.
But the trawler could not be salvaged. The Indian fishermen were accompanied to International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) by two naval vessels and handed over to Indian authorities on board Indian Coast Guard ship “Rani Jindan”.
