Train hits rickshaw, kills 6 kids in Pakistan

Pakistani police say a passenger train has hit a rickshaw carrying children on their way school, killing six children and the driver.

Senior police officer Wasi Haider says the accident occurred near Balu Lashari village in southern Sindh province. The rickshaw driver attempted to traverse an unmanned railway crossing without seeing an oncoming train. He said the rickshaw got stuck on the tracks, and the speeding train crashed into it.

Aside from the driver, the victims were between five and 15 years old, he added.

Such accidents occur often in Pakistan, where thousands of railway crossing are unmanned and poorly managed.
