At least six people were killed and about 40 injured Saturday by a Taliban attack on an intelligence office in eastern Afghanistan, officials said.
“The first attacker detonated his explosives at the gate of the National Directorate of Security office in Jalalabad city at 5 am to open way for his colleague,” said Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province.
Abdulzai said the second attacker was shot dead by guards.
“Ten civilians have been injured as the incident took place in a busy area.” Sources in the provincial hospital said they had received six bodies and about 40 injured.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying a “large number of the mujahideen” attacked the intelligence office.
