At least six civilians were injured on Thursday when a suicide bomber targeted a NATO troop convoy in southern Afghanistan, police said, with local reports saying foreign soldiers were also wounded in the attack.

The incident occurred in Maiwand district in the main bazaar at 12:30 pm (0800 GMT), said Zia ul Rahman Durrani, the police spokesman for Kandahar province.

He said the target were NATO vehicles passing the area and that three of those injured were in critical condition.

NATO confirmed the attack, but did not give any details. Local media said there were NATO soldiers among the casualties. No one claimed responsibility for the attack.
