Sharif chairs security meeting

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting of civil and military officials to review regional and national security.

Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief of the Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz and ISI chief General Zaheer-ul-Islam, among others, were present, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House.

This was the first such meeting after BJP leader Narendra Modi’s win in India’s general election.

General Sharif briefed the Prime Minister on his recent visit to Kabul and his discussions on border coordination and security for the second phase of the Afghan presidential elections.

The meeting also reviewed law and order situation in Balochistan and Karachi.
