Sedition charges against Kashmiri students unfortunate: Pak Ministry of Foreign Affairs

March 06, 2014 05:09 pm | Updated November 17, 2021 02:38 am IST - ISLAMABAD:

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Ms Tasnim Aslam on Thursday described as unfortunate the reported charges of sedition filed against 67 students of a private university in Meerut for allegedly supporting Pakistan against India in a recent Asia Cup cricket match.

Ms Aslam said in response to questions that it was unfortunate that this was done for just cheering a team in a cricket match. She also pointed out that according to news reports she had read, there was no way of corroborating whether the students were asked to leave or expelled from the university. She said if these students wanted to pursue their studies in Pakistan, they would be welcomed.
