For the second time, the Khushal Khan Khattak express was bombed, this time near Jacobabad on Sunday killing at least eight persons and injuring scores of others.

News reports said three bogies of the train which runs between Peshawar and Karachi were blown off the rails and some length of the railway track was also damaged.

Officials said the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) placed on the tracks which was set off by a remote control.

Last month the same train was targeted near Rajanpur in the Punjab and the blast killed three persons.

Meanwhile unconfirmed reports said the Taliban was likely to announce a ceasefire in the next 24 hours.
