After saying that Pakistan had low expectations from the proposed meeting between Prime Minister Muhammed Nawaz Sharif and Manmohan Singh in New York, Sartaj Aziz, adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs on Thursday hoped that it would give an impetus to the peace process.
He hosted a delegation of Indian Parliamentarians at lunch on Thursday at the Foreign Office and said that the Pakistan-India peace process should not be allowed to become a victim of domestic politics as that would not augur well for future relations, according to a Foreign Office statement.
He stressed the importance of a dialogue at all levels between Pakistan and India, particularly at the level of Parliamentarians. Highlighting Mr. Sharif's vision to develop better relations with India, he said that durable peace was essential for the stability of the region which was only possible through a sustainable dialogue process.
