The Nepal government has begun preparations to make Narendra Modi’s visit here from next Sunday special, as the first bilateral trip by an Indian Prime Minister in 17 years, after I.K. Gujral’s 1997 visit, is seen here as an opportunity to deepen ties and promote mutual benefits.
On Monday, Nepal PM Sushil Koirala held discussions with leaders of his coalition partner, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), and the main Opposition party, United Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), on making the two-day engagements fruitful. The leaders agreed that the visit was an opportunity to deepen ties and further Nepal’s interests.
