Nawaz Sharif to visit US on Oct. 20

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will talks with U.S. President Barack Obama during his visit from October 20 to 23, 2013. An official statement on Friday said that this is the first official visit of a Pakistan Prime Minister to the United States in five years.

The two leaders had a telephone conversation in May 2013, when President Obama congratulated Mr Sharif on his party’s victory in the general elections.

The statement said that in addition to meeting with President Obama, Mr Sharif will also meet Vice President Joe Biden and interact with Members of the Congress. Senior U.S. Government officials will also call on the Prime Minister.

He will attend a business event organized by the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council, address the United States Institute of Peace and interact with the Pakistani-American community.
