A NATO airstrike on Taliban militants in Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province killed at least 15 people, most of them civilians, an Afghan police official told DPA on Sunday.
The NATO-led international coalition meanwhile confirmed its “precision strike” in Watapur district late on Saturday had killed 10 “enemy forces” but said it had no reports of civilian casualties.
A pickup truck had been targeted in the strike that killed “three Taliban militants and 12 of their family members, including four women and three children,” the police official said.
“Another small girl who was injured in the incident died today in the provincial hospital.” The exact details of the airstrike were not yet known but authorities were investigating, he added.
