Musharraf arrested in Lal Masjid case

October 11, 2013 02:38 am | Updated September 02, 2016 04:03 pm IST - ISLAMABAD:

Amid reports that former Pakistan President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf was set to leave the country on Thursday after securing bail in all the cases against him, police arrested him in the Lal Masjid case on Thursday.

After relief from the Supreme Court on Wednesday which held that there was no substantial evidence against his involvement in the killing of Baloch nationalist leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and granted him bail, the police acted on a case filed against him last month.

The apex court while granting bail had asked the former President to furnish two bonds of Rs 1 million each as surety which he did on Thursday.
