A Slovakian tourist has been missing in the Everest region for more than a week, police said on Tuesday.
The man, identified as Tamas Princzkel, 28, was trekking solo.
“Records show that he had been in the Annapurna region before trekking across to the Everest region,” said Bhanubhakta Nepal, a police officer in Solukhumbu district.
“He left his belongings in his hotel room in Dingboche where he was staying and seems to have gone off on a walk with his camera and has been missing since.” Police said they had put up his photo in towns in the Everest region seeking help to find the missing man.
The Hungarian-speaking Slovakian citizen arrived in Nepal three weeks ago, as a part of his bicycle tour around the world. He started his journey last year and was said to have covered 15,000 kilometres before arriving in Nepal.
He was not part of any Everest expedition, according to police.
Police said they had already conducted a helicopter search for him with the help of Slovakian embassy.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old Indian citizen died while trekking in the Everest region on Monday.
The trekker identified as Prabeer Pratap Singh Gaduna was travelling with three other students from India, police said.
Police said he had died of altitude sickness at the elevation of 3,800 metres between Namchhe and Dingboche.
