Hamid Mir was on hit-list

April 24, 2014 11:45 pm | Updated May 23, 2016 04:07 pm IST - ISLAMABAD:

In his first statement after he was attacked, Geo anchorperson Hamid Mir said he faced threats from both state and non-state actors.

His statement was read out by his brother Amir on Thursday, news reports said.

Mr. Mir is recuperating in a Karachi hospital after a gunman fired six bullets into him last Saturday.

News reports quoting his brother said he was told by intelligence officials that he was on a hit-list. Mr. Mir also said the ISI was miffed by his coverage of Mama Baloch’s Long March from Quetta for the cause of missing persons.

He also said he had given police the telephone numbers from which he received threats but nothing was done. No arrest was made in an earlier case when a bomb was found attached to his vehicle in 2012.

The TTP had taken responsibility for that.
