At least eight people were killed when security forces raided a militant hideout in Afghanistan on Sunday, an official said.

“Units of security forces raided Taliban hideout in Soch area of Jerm district of North-eastern Badakhshan province in the wee hours of Sunday and the operation continued for three hours during which six militants, including commander Mullah Sayed Shah, were killed,” Xinhua quoted Noor Aqa Nadiri, Jerm district governor, as saying.

A policeman and a civilian were also killed in the clash, he added.
