After over two years, a Dhaka court on Wednesday indicted eight persons accused in blogger Ahmed Rajeeb Haider’s murder case.

Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Ruhul Amin indicted the eight, setting April 21 for the witness deposition. Police investigation into the murder on February 15, 2013, revealed that Islamist fanatics were behind the killing of a young blogger.

The indictment followed bitter criticism of police role during the recent murder of free thinker and founder of Mukto-Mona blog Avijit Roy on February 26 in Dhaka.

Rajeeb, an architect by profession, was hacked to death on February 15, 2013 near his home. It happened only ten days into a secular movement demanding the maximum penalty for convicted war criminals and a ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.
