Defence Ministry’s media wing closed

The Ministry of Defence on Monday announced that the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) — through which the government disseminated information related to defence and national security — had been abolished with effect from November 1.

Presidential spokesperson Mohan Samaranayake told TheHindu that the Ministry of Defence had taken the decision. However, no reason was given.
