Commonwealth Group to discuss Maldives on Wednesday

The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group will meet on Wednesday to discuss recent developments in the Maldives, said Kamalesh Sharma, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, on Tuesday.

Responding to a query on the Commonwealth’s position on the Maldivian presidential elections, he said there was constitutional void.

“I hope this will be addressed at a later point,” he said.

The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group, which is scheduled to meet on Wednesday, would take an appropriate decision, Mr. Sharma said.
