13 dead in Nepal landslides

Thirteen people were killed in landslides in Nepal’s western districts of Gulmi and Pyuthan, local media reported on Friday.

Nine people were killed when three houses were swept away by a landslide brought on by heavy rain in Gulmi district’s Anglung village, on Thursday night, Kantipur Television reported. One person was missing.

In neighbouring Pyuthan district, four people were killed and one was missing in a landslide also caused by heavy rain. Two among the dead were minors.

Police have been deployed to the sites to carry out rescue operations.
