Rescue teams are trying to bring to the surface four miners and two rescuers trapped underground following a methane gas explosion at a coal mine in southern Poland.
Head of the mining company Jaroslaw Zagorski said on Friday they have established voice contact with the trapped men, but it was not clear if all of them were together or what conditions they were in.
Twelve miners were hospitalized with burns late Thursday after methane ignited some 820 meters (2700 feet) underground at the Krupinski mine near Katowice. Doctors said their injuries were not life threatening.
