Russia warned against foreign meddling in Libya and called for an “independent assessment” of the situation in the North African country.
“Intervention in internal affairs, especially military interference, is unacceptable” in Libya or any other state, said Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday. “Any rash action, based on models that may be applicable in other parts of the world, could create serious problems that will then have to be sorted out by the African countries themselves,” Mr. Lavrov said at a press conference with his Congolese counterpart in Moscow.
President Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday signed a decree banning the “export, sale and delivery to Libya... of all kinds of weapons and associated materials”, as required by a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last month.

Old order has to change.Big powers have no role to play in taking sides with one group or the other.Outside interference will only aggravate the suffering of the innocent people.Spontaneous expression of peoples' voice cannot be suppressed indefinitely Tunisia and Egypt have shown the way.The forest fire has begun. At the same time, all must wake up to the reality that the preponderant popular trend in the world is towards small political entity with maximum autonomy free from central control of unitary leadership.Even democracies must give scope for racial, ethnic, linguistic, religious ,regional and cultural self-rule ultimately allowing freedom and independence if such protection is not feasible with tyranny of majority. There is rising assertive power of local people. The Ottoman Empire after WWI and the British Empire, and the French colonial system after WWII disintegrated into smaller political territorial nationalities The Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia broke up creating small countries of nationalities and sub-nationalities.Territorial size will have to yield place to local aspiration.Even Quebec in Canada has expressed its voice of separation.Tibet, Sinkiang, and Tamils in Sri Lanka have demonstrated the importance of religious, linguistic and cultural autonomy.Bangladesh was a creation of this trend.Localization and not globalization is the swing of the pendulum.Small is beautiful. All big territorial nations will have to reconcile to this inexorable force.
A few Years back a UN Commission indicted Israel for War Crimes against the People of Gaza. 1400 were killed, 5000 injured, most houses and infrastructure destroyed. Did any power insist on War Crimes Trial of Nethanyau, Israeli PM? Did anyone call for Military Intervention to save the innocent people of Gaza?
