Rough seas delay departure of T.N. fishermen

January 03, 2012 02:36 am | Updated July 25, 2016 06:17 pm IST - COLOMBO:

Rough seas have again delayed the departure of the 35 Tamil Nadu fishermen who were rescued and housed in Jaffna.

“We are waiting for clearance,” an Indian official said. The clearance would come once the seas were clear as most of the other formalities had been completed.

Some of the fishermen have been on the premises, rented out by the Indian Consulate in Jaffna to host the fishermen, since 10 days.

Six joined them on December 31.

The Sri Lankan Navy, which rescued all of them, is still searching the seas for another three Indian boats along with their complement of fishermen.
