Regretted that the vibes emanating from the other side have not been encouraging: Yousuf Raza Gilani

Pakistan favours resumption of the stalled composite dialogue with India, but “the vibes emanating from the other side have not been encouraging,” Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said on Thursday.

He made the remarks at a meeting with U.S. Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke here.

Pakistan was committed to ensuring peace in the region, he said, and the government was “making sincere efforts for resumption of the composite dialogue with India.” Bilateral relations “should not become a hostage to the activities of terrorists.”

He said both countries “must address the core issues, including the Kashmir and water disputes,” to find a lasting peace.
