Las Vegas casino mogul Steve Wynn resigned as finance chairman of the Republican Party’s fundraising arm on Saturday, a day after The Wall Street Journal reported that he routinely subjected women who worked for him to unwanted sexual advances.

“Today I accepted Steve Wynn’s resignation as Republican National Committee finance hair,” RNC chair Ronna Romney McDaniel said in a statement.

Mr. Wynn has denied the accusations published by the Wall Street Journal as “preposterous”. But he said in a statement released on Saturday evening that he was resigning to avoid unnecessary distraction.

Also, Senator Marco Rubio on Saturday fired his chief of staff for improper relations with subordinates. Mr. Rubio said he received “sufficient evidence to conclude that while employed by this office, my chief of staff had violated office policies regarding proper relations between a supervisor and their subordinates”.

His office confirmed the identity of the dismissed staffer as Clint Reed, but there were no details on the nature of the improper relations.
