Quake strikes of coast of eastern Russia

The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-6.1 earthquake has struck off the coast of eastern Russia.

The strong temblor struck just off the Kamatchka Peninsula in Russia’s Far East at 11-15 p.m. EST, according to the USGS website.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damages and there was no immediate tsunami alert issued.
