Pakistan tests Hatf-III

Pakistan on Thursday announced the successful training launch of the Short Range Ballistic Missile Hatf III (Ghaznavi) with a range of 290 km and capability to carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.

According to a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations, the launch was conducted at the conclusion of the annual field training exercise of the Army Strategic Force Command. The exercise was conducted to test the operational readiness of a Strategic Missile Group.

Addressing troops who participated in the exercise, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Khalid Shameem Wynne said the nation had developed a strong nuclear deterrence capability and reiterated the armed forces capability to safeguard Pakistan's security against aggression.
