Pak presses bullet-proof buses for cricketers

October 26, 2012 01:44 am | Updated 01:44 am IST - ISLAMABAD

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to purchase bullet proof buses to ferry touring cricket teams on Wednesday. This marks an attempt to persuade teams to tour the country and put Pakistan back on the map of international cricket.

Security concerns made the PCB Governing Board approve the purchase. These concerns have kept international cricket teams away following the March 2009 Lahore attack on the touring Sri Lankan squad, en route to the stadium. Home series matches have been hosted on neutral venues ever since. Bangladesh had agreed to travelearlier this year for one-off one-day and T-20 matches. However, following a Dhaka High Court directive, the tour had to be cancelled.
