One more charged over attack on General Brar

Of the two persons arrested on Thursday in connection with the attack on Lt. Gen. (retired) K. S. Brar, one has been charged with ``wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm’’ to him.

He was identified as Dilbag Singh (36) of ``no fixed abode’’.

Two men — Barjinder Singh Sangha (33) and Mandeep Singh Sandhu (34) — have already been charged with the same charge and are to stand trial. Sangha is also charged with “common assault’’ on Gen Brar’s wife, Meena, who was roughed up when she tried to intervene.

General Brar was attacked by four men when he and his wife were returning to their hotel in Oxford Street after dinner on the night of September 30.

He alleged that Khalistani sympathisers were behind the attack, which he called a “pure assassination attempt” for his role in the controversial 1984 Operation Blue Star to remove militants from the Golden Temple complex.
