A long overdue book has finally been returned to the New York Public Library 55 years late.
The Daily News says the biography of a 16-century priest called “Fire of Francis Xavier” was checked out of the Fort Washington branch in upper Manhattan on April 10, 1958.
Library manager Jennifer Zarr tells the newspaper that the book arrived at the library on Monday wrapped in a plain brown envelope with a cheque for $100 to cover the dues inside.
She says library records don’t go back to 1958 and there’s no way to trace who borrowed the book. She won’t reveal the name on the cheque.

Recently in the Down town (The hindu)paper we read the tale of a book
by Vaishali R.Venkat, published bt Alliance ,the first Tamil publishing house based in Mylapoe chennai. We were told that it is a manuscript that traveled 73 yrs of time before it was finally published.Another most interesting thing to note is that The book is, the biography of none other than G.Kasturiranga Iyengar the owner of the world renowned "The Hindu 'paper.Equally interesting is the tale about the return of the book,a Biography of a 16 th century Priest called Xavier. This book checked out of a library in washington in 1958 and came back on 2013 after a gap of 55 yrs, wrapped in a brown envelope and a cheque for 100 dollars, uncared for and unnoticed for this period.Very interesting "TALE OF TWO BIOGRAPHIES".
