Police say an airport on Norway’s south-western coast has been closed after airport staff found a “suspicious” piece of luggage in one of the toilets in the departure hall.

Chief Police inspector Trond Friberg says bomb experts were on their way from Oslo on Saturday to investigate the baggage at Haugesund Airport.

Mr. Friberg said on Saturday the authorities were investigating another object found at the airport, which had alerted them to the suspicious bag. He would not describe what that object was.

He says it’s “a combination of the two,” but says it “could just be as simple as someone having forgotten their luggage.”

The discovery was made late Friday night just as the airport was closing after the last flight had left.
