Pop star Beyonce Knowles and her husband Jay-Z have lost their bid to trademark the name of their baby girl, Blue Ivy.

The music super couple welcomed their first child in January and subsequently filed papers to own and protect the rights to their daughter’s much-talked about name, reported Showbizspy .

However, the pair’s request was rejected by a U.S. judge since bosses at a party planning firm in Boston, Massachusetts, Blue Ivy Events, have been operating under the moniker since 2009.

Beyonce was hoping to launch her own children’s line in her daughter’s name.

Presidential advice

President Barack Obama has said he gives parenting advice to Jay-Z and encourages him to be a hands-on father.

In a recent interview with Cleveland, Ohio radio station, Mr. Obama opened up about his relationship with the 44-year-old rapper and his 31-year-old wife who performed her rendition of ‘At Last’ during the President’s inaugural ball in 2009, reported us magazine.

“I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out with Blue Ivy, 10 months. And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law,” he said.

The President also said he and his wife, Michelle, consider the rapper and Beyonce good friends. — PTI
